Privacy Policy — AstralTwins

Your birth date, time and place are the most personal things you give us. We encrypt them, we never sell them, and no other member sees your full chart until you have both accepted a Conjunction.

What we collect

Account details — your name, username, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form).
Birth details — your date, time and place of birth, plus the latitude and longitude we derive from your birth city. This is the most sensitive data we hold and it is encrypted at rest.
Profile content — photos, bio, interests, life events, posts, comments and messages you choose to create.
Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security and to keep the service running.

Why we collect it

To calculate your Vedic birth chart. Your birth details are the only way to do this — without them the core of the service cannot function.
To compute your Astral Similarity Index against other members and surface potential Astral Twins.
To operate normal social features: your feed, conjunctions, messages, groups and pages.
To keep the platform safe — spam detection, abuse reports and moderation.

Who can see your birth chart

By default, other members see only limited public information about you.
Your full birth chart and photos are revealed to another member only after you have BOTH accepted a Conjunction. Either side can decline.
You control section-by-section visibility in Settings. We honour those settings everywhere the data is rendered.
We do not sell your birth data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Third parties we use

NASA JPL Horizons — we request planetary positions for a date and time. We do not send your name, email or any identifying detail with these requests.
Analytics — we run a self-hosted analytics script to understand which features are used. It does not receive your birth details.
Affiliate links — some interest suggestions link to partners such as Amazon or Booking.com. If you click one, that partner sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. You are told before you leave the site.
Email and SMS delivery — used only to send verification, password resets and notifications you have opted into.

How long we keep it

Account and birth data are kept while your account is active.
If you delete your account, we remove your profile, posts, messages, birth data and chart data. Some records may persist briefly in encrypted backups before rotating out.
Anonymous, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be retained.

Your rights

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction — fix inaccurate details directly in Settings, or ask us.
Deletion — delete your account and associated data at any time.
Withdraw consent — you can remove your birth details, though this disables chart and matching features.

Children

AstralTwins is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.

Security

Birth data is encrypted at rest. Passwords are hashed. All traffic is served over HTTPS.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authority as required by law.
